Blue Health
Blue Health explores how Blue Space positively shapes human wellbeing. Research shows that spending time near, in, on, or by water can reduce stress, improve mood, support mental clarity, and strengthen overall health.
Blue Space includes oceans, lakes, rivers, rain, mist, and the colour blue, but also the living systems water makes possible: plants, animals, microorganisms, sounds, movement, and the wider ecological processes sustained by water.
At the core of Blue Health is the relationship between people and the broader ecosystem. Engaging with aquatic environments is not only soothing; it reconnects us with the natural systems we are part of. This connection enhances resilience, creativity, and emotional balance.
Blue Health blends science, psychology, and environmental awareness to show how Blue Space can be integrated into everyday life for better physical and mental wellbeing.
Blue Health Coaching
Blue Health Coaching is an ICF‑certified methodology designed to support sustainable personal and professional development. Grounded in internationally recognised coaching standards, it follows a client‑led approach where coach and client work together through thought‑provoking and creative processes that strengthen alignment, balance, and connection.
Bringing Blue Health principles into a practical framework, the method combines evidence‑based coaching with nature‑connected practices to help individuals create sustainable lifestyle changes.
A Blue Health Coach supports clients in reconnecting with natural rhythms, partnering with aquatic environments as tools for grounding, reflection, and personal growth.
Sessions may include mindful outdoor experiences, sensory awareness, breathwork, and goal‑setting inspired by the calming and restorative qualities of blue spaces.
The ABC Pillars of Blue Health Coaching
A – Align
Align actions with values, goals, and internal resources to create coherence and clarity.
B – Balance
Strengthen nervous system regulation to reduce cognitive noise and support clearer thinking and embodied decision‑making.
C – Connect
Deepen connection with the wider ecosystem to enhance perspective, creativity, and resilience.
This holistic approach empowers clients to build healthier habits, reduce stress, and cultivate a deeper sense of presence and purpose — translating insight into meaningful, sustainable action.
Blue Space as a Coaching Environment
Coaching takes place in Blue Space - rivers, lakes, coastlines, rainfall, or indoor water settings. These environments enhance sensory awareness, support nervous system regulation, and increase cognitive and emotional clarity. Blue Space is as an active part of the coaching process.
Finding your Blue Space
Finding a personal Blue Space is essential for recharging, regulating, and maintaining wellbeing in a busy life. Blue Health Coaching helps you identify and use this space as a daily resource for balance, clarity, and sustainable lifestyle change.
Coaching is available in Norwegian, English, and German.

Blue Mind
Blue Mind, a term popularized by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, describes the meditative, relaxed state the brain enters when we are near water.
This “blue mind state” is associated with reduced anxiety, improved focus, enhanced creativity, and a greater sense of calm.
It contrasts with “red mind,” the stressed, overstimulated state common in modern life. Blue Mind research shows that water has a unique neurological effect, helping people reset their nervous system, access deeper emotional clarity, and experience a sense of spaciousness and ease.
The Blue Mind theory is provides a scientific foundation for why water feels healing and why blue spaces are essential for human wellbeing.

Connecting the Dots
Everything in nature is connected — from the smallest stream in the forest to the deep Norwegian fjords.
We are part of this ecosystem, not separate from it. The health of our rivers, lakes, and coastlines directly influences our own wellbeing, and the choices we make ripple outward into the environments that sustain us.
When we take part in river and shoreline clean‑ups, restore habitats, or simply spend time in Blue Space, we strengthen the link between personal health and environmental health.
Research shows that healthy ecosystems support healthier communities: cleaner water, richer biodiversity, stronger social bonds, and improved mental and physical wellbeing.
Connecting the dots means seeing how our actions matter — and how caring for the places shaped by water is also a way of caring for ourselves.
